How to Install a Fuel Sump Pump

fuel sump pump

A common upgrade for diesel pickup truck owners is adding a bigger fuel system.  The stock fuel sump pump was only designed to supply enough volume of fuel to satisfy stock horsepower levels.  Owners of Ford Powerstroke, Chevy and GMC Duramax, and Dodge Cummins pickup trucks will find their fuel pressure dropping after making upgrades to increase horsepower.  Many owners will add a fuel system capable of supplying 100+ gallons per hour made by companies like FASS, Airdog, or Fuelab.  These systems are designed to supply a constant fuel flow and also add filtration to keep fuel clean.  It is not uncommon to hear of a diesel pickup truck owner not being able to use the last 1/4 or 1/8 of tank of fuel with these sort of setups.  Those problems are the reason why FASS designed their a fuel tank sump.  With the FASS fuel tank sump, you are able to use 100% of the fuel tank.

Fuel Sump Pump Description:

Installing a fuel sump pump install with integrated suction tube kit is not as hard as one may think. FASS Fuel Systems no drop sump kit is the latest in our industry leading fuel deliver accessory line. Designed to be capable of functioning independently or in combination with our Fuel Air Separation System, drivers can now get the benefits that come with a sump but without any of the inherited issues. A sump kit eliminates 1/4 tank issues by pulling fuel from the bottom of the tank up to the last drop.

Like most sumps on the market, the FASS sump kit can pull fuel from the outside of the sump through a pre-tapped 1/2″ fuel port. However this brings the inherited issues that a line can catch and pull lose. To fix this issue, FASS decided that they would also offer a way to pull fuel from the inside of the tank using the billet bulkhead fitting and suction tube kit. This would effectively eliminate this problem. This fuel sump pump can come with or without the bulkhead fitting. We recommend ordering with the bulk head fitting.
